Let&#8217;s have a look at what we have been learning this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maths <\/strong><br>This week in Maths, Year 1 focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aut.2.1 \u2013 Introducing parts and wholes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.2 \u2013 Part-whole model<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.3 \u2013 Writing number sentences and reviewing them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.4 \u2013 Fact families (addition facts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 2 focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reviewing fact families<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.3 \u2013 Related facts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewing related facts (subtraction)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.4 \u2013 Bonds to 100 (tens)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aut.2.5 \u2013 Adding and subtracting 1s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The children are building strong number knowledge and beginning to see how facts link together across operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Literacy <\/strong><br>We completed our final assessments this week &#8211; planning, practising, and writing! The children showed fantastic resilience throughout, and I\u2019ll be sending their work home after marking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our next unit, beginning <strong>after the Chuseok break<\/strong>, will be based on the book <em>The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark<\/em> by Jill Tomlinson. The learning outcome will be <strong>non-fiction report writing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Year 1 objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use plural noun suffixes -s and -es<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Punctuate sentences using capital letters and full stops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Join words using <em>and<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Year 2 objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use co-ordination (but, or)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add <em>-ly<\/em> to turn adjectives into adverbs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use commas to separate items in a list<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re looking forward to diving into this beautiful story together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IPC<\/strong><br>In IPC, we moved into our Art lessons and learned about Mark Rothko, exploring how he used colour and paint to express emotions. The children created their own masterpieces, worked collaboratively on a group painting, and discovered that not everyone feels the same emotions when looking at Rothko\u2019s work. It was a busy, creative week, and I hope these lessons are helping the children learn more about identifying their emotions and trying strategies to manage them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chuseok <\/strong><br>A reminder that school will be closed <strong>Monday\u2013Thursday next week<\/strong> for the Korean Thanksgiving holiday.
