We\u2019ve had another fantastic week in Year 1\/2, full of learning, creativity, and fun! Here\u2019s a look at what we\u2019ve been working on together:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2795 Maths<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been busy exploring numbers and using manipulatives on our tuff trays<\/strong> to make learning hands-on and engaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 1 objectives:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 Aut.1.10 \u2013 Compare groups by matching

\ud83d\udcd6 English<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We continued with our class story \u201cTroll Swap.\u201d<\/strong> The children really enjoyed diving deeper into the characters and practicing new writing skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • \u270d\ufe0f Year 1 focused on using the connective \u201cand\u201d<\/strong> to write instructions on how to be a good troll.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • \u270d\ufe0f Year 2 worked on including noun phrases<\/strong> to make their writing more descriptive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • \ud83d\udc8c We wrote a letter to Tabitha\u2019s grandma<\/strong> asking for help in teaching Tabitha how to be good.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • \ud83d\udcac Today, we predicted what Troll and Tabitha might say to each other by using speech and thought bubbles<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    \ud83c\udf1f Year 1 are becoming more confident in writing short sentences and improving their letter formation.
    \ud83c\udf1f Year 2 impressed me with their independence and focus \u2014 well done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \ud83e\udde0 IPC \u2013 The Brain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We have been finishing our unit on The Brain<\/strong>, and the children loved learning more about how it helps us every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • \ud83c\udfb5 In assembly, we sang a song about the amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and hippocampus.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • \ud83c\udf08 We explored our calm space<\/strong> and sensory tools to learn how to calm the amygdala and get back to a happy, calm state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • \ud83d\udcf8 For our research activity<\/strong>, we took close-up photos of objects and guessed what they were. This helped us see how the brain works hard to make sense of information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • \ud83d\udcdd We also learned about giving clear instructions<\/strong>. Just like the brain, instructions need to be clear so others can understand and \u201csee\u201d what we mean!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • This showed how important clarity<\/strong> is when we communicate – just like how our brain needs clear signals to understand and respond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        \ud83c\udfe1 Homework<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        \ud83c\udf1f Thank you to all parents for supporting homework and bringing folders in on time, it makes such a difference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \ud83c\udf71 Lunchtime\/Snack Reminders<\/strong>
        To help make lunchtimes run smoothly:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • If your child\u2019s lunch needs to be heated, please send it in a microwave-safe container<\/strong>. Some students currently have metal lunch boxes which unfortunately cannot go in the microwave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • It\u2019s also really helpful if your child has both a snack pouch<\/strong> and a lunch bag\/box<\/strong>. In the mornings we separate snacks and lunches, and at snack time\/lunchtime, the children need to carry their food to the cafeteria or outdoors. Having a proper bag or box makes this much easier (and helps avoid little accidents!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          If your child is not taking the bus<\/strong> in the morning, please contact the bus teacher<\/strong> or the office<\/strong> to let us know in advance.
          \u2714\ufe0f This helps staff know where children are and avoids waiting unnecessarily.
