Hello everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I can\u2019t quite believe we\u2019re already at the end of Week 3! It seems like just yesterday when we started the new term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is what we have been up to this week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Literacy  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week in Literacy, we continued reading Chapters 3 and 4 of our class text, with a focus on developing the children\u2019s understanding of key events and characters. The students made thoughtful predictions about what might happen next, using evidence from the text to support their ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then moved on to a piece of extended writing, where the children planned and wrote a diary entry from Magpie\u2019s point of view during her time in the prototype. This allowed them to explore her thoughts and emotions in more depth, while practising writing in role and organising their ideas carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards the end of the week, we read Chapter 4 and the students worked collaboratively to discuss comprehension questions. They were encouraged to explain their thinking and refer back to the text, helping to strengthen both their understanding and their confidence when discussing their ideas with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of the week, we explored the Sun\u2019s energy through two practical investigations. The students compared how quickly soil, sand, and water heated up in the sunlight, and also investigated which colours absorb the most heat by placing different coloured paper outside. Although measuring the temperature accurately was sometimes tricky, the students really enjoyed the hands-on nature of these activities and were able to draw some thoughtful conclusions from what they observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then moved on to learning about the Sun\u2019s gravity and how it keeps the planets in orbit. The students learned that the Sun is the largest object in our solar system and has a very strong gravitational pull, which keeps all of the planets moving around it in a curved path rather than drifting off into space. They used this knowledge to create digital posters, where they were able to combine scientific understanding with their creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards the end of the week, we explored how the Earth\u2019s rotation causes day and night, and began to look at why different countries experience different time zones. The students carried out a short research task, using a set of guided questions to help them find and record key information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
