Hello everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n


It was so lovely to see those of you who were able to attend Parent Teacher Conferences this week. With just one week left until the summer holidays, the excitement is definitely building and the students are looking forward to making the most of their final days together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is what Year 5\/6 have been up to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Year 5 students have now completed all of their Maths units for the year and have been spending this week reviewing the learning we have covered. Next week, they will take their end of year assessments, which will be a great opportunity to showcase all of the progress they have made. Good luck, Year 5; you’ve worked hard and we know you can do it!  Fighting!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have now completed all of their revision work and end of year assessments. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and should be very proud of all they have achieved. Their commitment, perseverance, and progress have been fantastic to see. Over the coming weeks, they will begin preparing for Year 7 Mathematics, helping to ensure a smooth and confident transition to middle school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Literacy  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Literacy, the students completed their Climate Change Dragon’s Den projects. Working in groups, they researched a climate change issue and designed an innovative invention to help solve it. The students then presented their ideas to the class, explaining how their invention worked and why it could make a positive difference to the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students also took part in a letter writing activity where they wrote letters of appreciation to members of staff around the school. This was a wonderful opportunity for them to reflect on the people who have supported them throughout the year and to practise writing for a real purpose and audience. It was lovely to see the thoughtful and kind messages they produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPC <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In IPC, the students took part in a creative challenge to design their own sustainable island. Drawing on everything they have learned throughout our climate change and sustainability unit, they considered how a community could be designed to protect the environment while still providing a high quality of life for its citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students carefully planned different aspects of island life, including transport systems, renewable energy sources, housing, waste management and food production. They were encouraged to think critically about how everyday choices can have an impact on the environment and how sustainable alternatives could help reduce pollution and conserve natural resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also explored the role of education in creating a sustainable future by designing school subjects that would help children develop environmentally responsible habits and a greater understanding of climate change. Throughout the project, the students demonstrated creativity, collaboration and problem solving skills as they worked to balance the needs of people with the needs of the planet. The final designs showcased their growing understanding of sustainability and highlighted many innovative ideas for creating a greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
