Ms Temple’s Class – Art Update – T1-W14

Our students joined in the festive spirit this week by working on big-sized Christmas artworks that will help decorate our school for the holidays.

Students began by sketching their Christmas-themed designs onto large sheets of cardboard or foam board. They then moved on to cutting, outlining, and adding base colours to bring their ideas to life. Some groups focused on creating cheerful Christmas characters, while others designed bold and vibrant Christmas trees and seasonal patterns.

It was wonderful to see how engaged and collaborative the students were.
They shared materials, planned their designs together, and helped one another with detailed painting and cutting work—showing great teamwork and creativity.

We’re excited to see how these large festive pieces will brighten up our school halls as we get closer to Christmas!

Mr Dunn’s Class Update T1 W14

This week, our Christmas art project grew even more exciting as the students continued working in small groups to develop their large-scale holiday pieces. Unlike last week’s initial sketching and base-painting sessions, this week was all about adding details, refining colours, and bringing each artwork’s personality to life.

Students experimented with bold colour blocks, textured brushstrokes, and layering techniques to make their Christmas characters and scenes stand out. Some groups focused on polishing facial expressions and clothing patterns, while others added highlights, shadows, and decorative elements to deepen the festive atmosphere.

It was wonderful to see how much more confident and collaborative the students have become.
They discussed ideas, made decisions together, and even helped one another with tricky painting sections—showing real teamwork and artistic maturity.

Our art room is now filled with bright reds, warm golds, and cheerful winter motifs.
Every corner feels like Christmas is already here!

We can’t wait to display the finished pieces next week and celebrate the students’ hard work and creativity.

Mrs Sim’s Class – Art Update – T1-W13

This week, our students worked on creating a snowy Christmas scene together.

The children made snowmen, Christmas trees, and other festive decorations, which were later arranged on a snowy hill display—just like in the final photo. They used felt, paper, and oil pastels to design and decorate each piece, enjoying the process of cutting, drawing, and adding colours.

Once the elements were completed, the students helped place them on the large display board, bringing the winter scene to life. The art room was filled with excitement and holiday cheer as the children proudly contributed to the Christmas atmosphere.

Ms Staines’s Class – Art Update – T1-W13

This week, our students began creating Christmas tree mobiles using felt.

The children drew their own tree designs onto the felt and prepared pieces that will later be assembled into 3D hanging decorations.

In another session, the students worked with large cardboard boxes, sketching a variety of Christmas-themed images. These decorated boxes will be displayed creatively during our Christmas Show to bring even more festive cheer to the event.

There was so much joy in the art room, and the students had an amazing time working on their projects.

This week, our students designed Christmas stockings on felt and added a variety of festive elements through their drawings. They used oil pastels, which blend beautifully on felt, to give their artworks a warm and textured look. Once completed, the stockings will be fitted with hanging loops and displayed around the school to create a cozy and cheerful Christmas atmosphere.

This week, our students completed their chosen artworks inspired by Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin.

Each student selected a favourite piece by one of the two artists and finished their paintings using acrylics, focusing on colour blending, brush control, and personal interpretation.

After completing their Post-Impressionist works, the students moved on to their Christmas Art Project. Working in small groups, they sketched large-scale Christmas-themed images onto big cardboard pieces or foam boards. The students then brought their ideas to life by drawing, painting, cutting, and adding 3D elements to create festive, expressive artworks.

I’m very excited to see how these artworks will turn out next week.

Our art room is already filled with a warm and festive end-of-year atmosphere.

Mrs Sim’s Class – Art Update – T1-W12

Last week, the children explored Kandinsky’s style by creating artworks using lines, shapes, and colourful dots. Building on that learning, this week the students used brightly coloured paper to create layered shapes and transform them into festive Christmas trees.

They carefully cut, arranged, and layered circles and triangles to add depth and dimension, just like Kandinsky’s abstract compositions. Each child’s tree looks vibrant, playful, and full of creativity.

It was a wonderful hands-on project that helped them develop fine motor skills, explore abstract art, and express their own artistic ideas.

Ms Staines’s Class – Art Update – T1-W12

This week, the children completed their beautiful canvas paintings inspired by Claude Monet. Throughout the lesson, they carefully observed Monet’s masterpieces, describing the colours, brushstrokes, and atmosphere in his artworks. Using these observations, the students created their own interpretations on canvas.

Each piece is truly unique — the children’s creativity, personality, and confidence in using acrylic paint really shine through. The results are fantastic, and I am so proud of their hard work and artistic growth.

Ms Temple’s Class – Art Update – T1-W12

This week, the students continued working on our large Egyptian wall painting project. After completing their sketches last week, the children began adding colour using oil pastels. They focused on traditional Egyptian colours and patterns while carefully filling in the figures and details.

Next week, we will enhance their artworks by adding layers of watercolour and acrylic paint to create a more natural and authentic wall-painting effect. Through this project, the students are able to explore a variety of art materials, experiment with different techniques, and develop a deeper understanding of Ancient Egyptian art.

Mr Dunn’s Class – Art Update – T1-W12

This week, Mr Dunn’s class completed their self-portraits inspired by Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. After finishing their portraits, the students chose their favourite artwork by either Van Gogh or Gauguin and created their own drawing based on that piece. In this project, they went a step beyond using oil pastels and experimented with acrylic paint, experiencing new painting techniques and colour-blending methods on paper.

This activity was a wonderful opportunity for the students to develop their research skills, deepen their understanding of Post-Impressionist art, and gain confidence in expressing themselves using acrylics.
