Dear Parents,
I hope you have had a lovely week. It has been another busy and exciting one in our classroom, full of learning, creativity, and a few mischievous dragons!
Maths
This week in Maths, we continued our work on Money, focusing on the following objectives:
Spr.1.8 – Make a pound
Spr.1.9 – Find change
Spr.1.10 – Solve two-step problems
The children also completed a review in preparation for assessment, and today they sat their Money Assessment. Test results and the unit booklet have been sent home today so you can see how well they have done. They should be very proud of their hard work!
Literacy
In Literacy, we have been learning about letter and diary writing.
We wrote a letter to Mr Green, explaining all about the dragons that invaded our classroom.
During Digital Literacy, the children emailed their letters to Mr Green and were thrilled to receive replies! Mr Green reassured them that everything was under control and that the dragons would cause no more havoc. It was absolutely wonderful to see how excited the children were while checking their emails.
We also wrote a diary entry about the naughty dragons from our storybook, focusing on using exclamation marks to show excitement, annoyance, surprise, and fear.
Next week, we will begin working on a leaflet titled “How to Take Care of Your Dragon.”
IPC – “Freeze It” ❄️
We are coming to the end of our IPC unit “Freeze It”, and the children have had so much fun throughout. They have:
Made delicious ice lollies
Designed and created ice boxes
Worked collaboratively in groups to explore and solve problems
It has been fantastic to see their teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm.
