Our Year 3–4 students have successfully completed their Chuseok Art project. After learning about the meaning and cultural significance of the traditional Cheongsachorong lantern, students created their own lanterns to accompany the full moons they made earlier. They were delighted to see their handmade full moons and Cheongsachorong lanterns come together, and it was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed creating and displaying their work.
After completing our Chuseok project, we returned to our Autumn topic. Students closely observed photographs of real autumn trees and leaves, discussing the colours, shapes, patterns, and textures they could see in nature.
Using these observations as inspiration, students began creating their own autumn trees and leaves through collage. Rather than simply copying what they saw, they experimented with their own colours and patterns to create unique and imaginative images.
This activity gave students the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills through cutting, arranging, and layering paper, while also exploring colour, pattern, composition, and texture. It was lovely to see each student turn their observations of autumn into their own creative artwork.
