Mr Browning’s Class – Art Update T1 W6

Our Year 1–2 students returned to their All About Me topic this week after completing their Chuseok Art project, continuing to explore the theme of home and family through creative activities.

We began by exploring the different shapes that make up a house. Students learned to recognise and name basic 2D shapes, compared their features, and used their hands to represent different shapes. They also took part in a shape-identification activity, looking for familiar shapes in objects around them.

Using their new understanding, students created their own My House collages by cutting, arranging, and combining different geometric shapes to design a house.

We then moved on to exploring the people who make up our families. Students shared ideas about their family members and represented them through drawing, thinking about how each person is part of their home and what makes their family special.

Through these activities, students developed their shape recognition, fine motor skills, visual thinking, and ability to express personal experiences through Art.
