Mrs Sim’s Weekly Update – Term 3 Week 6

Hello and Happy Friday to you all 🙂

It’s been a busy week in Year 1/2 and the children are counting down the days until the start of the ABC Countdown. Please check each day in advance. Thank you!

Welcome Sofiia!

We welcomed the lovely Sofiia to our class this week and it has been great to see her settling in so well and making friends. Sofiia is from Ukraine and has been living in Spain before coming to Korea. We are very impressed by all the languages she can speak. Welcome!

Sports Day

Please make sure that your child has the correct colour of T-shirt for next Thursday 21st May. Sports Day starts at 10:30am and we hope to see you all there!

Field Trip to Hanul Farm on the 29th May

On the 29th May, we will be visiting Hanul Farm (https://naver.me/5z5sqFED) in connection with our new IPC unit – “The Earth – Our Home”.

We will be exploring the farm, feeding the animals and looking at the surrounding nature. Afterwards, we will visit  https://naver.me/55rmIZRx Jadarak Forest and play! We will leave school at 9:10 and return at 3:30pm. Please make sure to be at school by 8:55am on this day. Please fill in the permission form by next Friday the 22nd May. There will be no cost for this trip as the school will cover it all.

In Maths this week, the students have been finishing up units on Time (Y2) and Position and Direction in Year 1. Year 2 sat their end-of-unit test today and they all did incredibly well. Good Job! 🙂

Sum.3.4 – Describe position – above and below

Review Time for test

In IPC, we have just finished our unit “Seeing the Light” and next week we will be starting our new unit “The Earth – Our Home”. Our field trip will be great for this unit as we learn about the world we live in. Hope you like the children’s plants that we sent home this week.

In Literacy, we sat our final writing assessment where we had to write a persuasive letter. I will mark these over the weekend and return to the children next week. We will be starting our final book of the year next week “Grandad’s Secret Garden” and I am sure the children will enjoy learning through it.

Wishing you all a great weekend. There are lots of colds and coughs going around. Stay healthy!

Take care

Mrs Sim
