Dear Parents,
It is Friday again and we are all ready for a nice long weekend. Please be aware the school is closed on Monday 25th May.
We have our field trip next Friday the 29th. Everyone is signed up and ready to go! It should be a great day out. On the day please make sure to:
Bring a snack that is easy to eat
A packed lunch that does not need microwaved
Some suncream if the weather is hot
The school uniform t-shirt and comfortable clothes
Waterbottle
Sports day will be held on the 3rd of June and we hope you can all make it along to join in the fun and support your child.
In Maths this week we have studied the following objectives. The kids are always working hard first period and we are having fun with our new units.
Year 1
Sum.4.1 – Count from 50 to 100
Sum.4.2 – Tens to 100
Sum.4.3 – Partition into tens and ones
Year 2
Sum.3.1 – Make tally charts
Sum.3.2 – Tables
Sum.3.3 – Block diagrams
Sum.3.4 – Draw pictograms (1-1)
In Literacy, we began our story, Grandad’s Secret Giant and had fun exploring the setting and thinking of noun phrases to add to our working wall. We imagined what the giant will look like and drew very creative pictures!
In IPC, we started our new unit, ‘The Earth – Our Home’ and took a look at various habitats. The children made lovely posters which included deserts, rainforests, oceans and Antarctica! We will be looking at what animals and plants live here and why different animals need different living conditions.
This week, we began the ABC Countdown and the children LOVED AHHHH FOR ICE-CREAM day! Today we had a giggle at the brain teaser scavenger hunt around school and everyone won a prize for thier effort. I am working on being grateful with the children and appreciating how lucky we are to be given such nice things and activities at school 🙂
I hope you all have a great weekend and have something nice planned. Enjoy the nice weather and I will see you all on Tuesday 26th May.
Take care
Mrs Sim
