As we enter the final two weeks of the school year, there is still plenty to look forward to at UHIS. From Parent Teacher Conferences and End of Year Reports to our trip to Gyeongju World, Final Assembly, and End of Year Celebration, the coming days will provide many opportunities to reflect on and celebrate a successful year together.
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s newsletter carefully, as it contains important information about upcoming events, report distribution, bus registration for next year, and other end-of-year arrangements. Thank you, as always, for your continued support throughout the year.

World Cup Watch Party
We will be showing the Korea vs Mexico World Cup game on Friday 19th June at 10am. This is a great opportunity for our community to enjoy an event together. Parents are warmly invited to join us to watch the game.
End-of-Year Reports
End of Year Reports were published on Friday 12th June. We encourage parents to take the time to read the report carefully with their child and celebrate the progress they have made throughout the year.
Further information about understanding and interpreting the report will be shared next week. We also encourage all families to attend Parent Teacher Conferences, where teachers will be available to discuss student progress in more detail and answer any questions.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Details of our End of Year Parent Teacher Conferences will be shared through class weekly updates. We strongly encourage all parents to arrange an appointment and take this opportunity to discuss their child’s progress, achievements, and next steps in learning.
We will do our best to accommodate appointment times that are convenient for families.
In addition to class teachers, specialist teachers will also be available for appointments. Parents who wish to discuss wider school matters are welcome to arrange a meeting with the Principal or a member of the Executive Board.
Strong communication between home and school is an important part of supporting student success, and we encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity.
MAP Growth Assessment Results
MAP Growth assessment results will be shared alongside End of Year Reports on Friday 12th June.
As this is the first time UHIS has used MAP Growth assessments, there may be some uncertainty about how to interpret the results. These assessments provide an additional measure of student achievement and should be viewed alongside classroom performance, teacher observations, and other assessment information.
Our teachers have received training on interpreting MAP Growth data and will be happy to discuss your child’s results during Parent Teacher Conferences.
Most students performed very well. However, as this was their first experience of this type of assessment, some results may be higher or lower than expected.
As this is our first set of MAP Growth data, we are not yet able to show progress over time. From next year, students will complete MAP Growth assessments three times per year, allowing us to track and report on student growth more effectively.
We encourage parents not to focus too heavily on any single test result. The most accurate picture of a child’s progress comes from considering all available evidence of learning together.
End-of-Year Trip to Gyeongju World
On Thursday 25th June (Week 12), all students will take part in our End-of-Year Trip to Gyeongju World. This is always a popular event and a great opportunity for students to celebrate a successful school year together.
The cost of the trip is as follows:
- Mrs Sim’s Class and Miss Staines’s Class: 11,000 KRW per student
- Ms Temple’s Class and Mr Dunn’s Class: Free of charge, funded using the remaining balance from the recent residential trip.
Parents are welcome to attend. The cost for parent tickets is 28,000 KRW. Any parents who would like to join us are asked to contact Ms Yujin so that transport arrangements can be organised. Class teachers will communicate any additional arrangements regarding parent helpers directly with families.
Students in Mrs Sim’s Class and Miss Staines’s Class will return to school in time for the 3:30pm bus, while students in Ms Temple’s Class and Mr Dunn’s Class will return in time for the 4:30pm bus.
Final Assembly
Our Final Assembly will take place on Friday 26th June at 11am, and all parents are warmly invited to attend.
This special assembly will provide an opportunity for our school community to reflect on and celebrate another successful year at UHIS. We will recognise the achievements, growth, and contributions of our students throughout the year, celebrate our graduating students as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey, and say goodbye to members of staff who will be leaving UHIS at the end of the school year.
The Final Assembly is always a meaningful occasion and an important part of our end-of-year celebrations. We look forward to sharing this event with students, staff, and families before moving into our End of Year Celebration afterwards.
End of Year Celebration
The End of Year Celebration will also take place on the final day of term, following a similar format to last year’s successful event. The celebration will begin at 2:00pm.
The school will provide pizza for everyone attending, and parents will be invited to bring additional food to share. Please use the sign-up form below to let us know that you will be coming and if you have food to share.
Events such as these are only possible with the support of our parent community. Whether it is helping with set-up, bringing food, assisting during the event, or helping with clean-up afterwards, any support is greatly appreciated. If you are willing to help in any way, please contact us. Your involvement helps make these events special for our students and strengthens the sense of community that makes UHIS such a unique school.
No After-School Activities in Weeks 11 and 12
Please note that there will be no after-school activities during Weeks 11 and 12. This is a normal part of our end-of-year arrangements and allows staff to focus on final assessments, reports, end-of-year events, and preparations for the new school year.
All after-school activities will finish at the end of Week 10. Please be aware of the different bus times.
