UHIS Newsletter – T1W6 – 2026/27

Autumn in Full Swing at UHIS

Autumn is in full swing at UHIS, and this edition brings together some of the many things happening across our community. There is a look at the new student-produced UHIS Magazine, our growing bottle-cap collection, class art updates, and information for families about our PTA and the upcoming Halloween celebrations.

Looking ahead to Week 7, school is closed for National Foundation Day on Monday 5 October. We then look forward to our Open Day on Tuesday and a relaxed Day Out in the Park on Thursday. We hope this newsletter helps everyone keep up with the busy weeks ahead.

Happening in Week 7

  • Monday 5th October: National Foundation Day Holiday. School closed.
  • Tuesday 6th October: Open Day.
  • Thursday 8th October: A Day Out in the Park.

National Foundation Day Holiday

UHIS will be closed on Monday 5th October for National Foundation Day. We wish all UHIS families an enjoyable long weekend and look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday.

Open Day

UHIS will hold an Open Day on Tuesday 6th October. It is a chance for visitors to find out more about our school and meet members of the UHIS community. Please contact the Admin Office for further information. Please help us spread the word by letting friends, colleagues or neighbours who may be interested know about the Open Day.

A Day Out in the Park

On Thursday 8th October, the whole school will enjoy an informal, fun day at Ulsan Grand Park. Parents and members of our wider community are very welcome to join us for a relaxed picnic in the park. Please bring some lovely food for the picnic.

Students and staff will leave school by bus at 10.20 am and arrive at the South Entrance (South Gate) of Ulsan Grand Park at approximately 10.50 am. Parents who are not travelling by school bus can meet us there.

Limited spaces are available for parents on the school buses. Please contact the Admin Office to request a space; these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

We will eat a picnic and play in the park together. We expect to return to UHIS at approximately 3.10 pm, with buses and after-school activities running as normal.

Keeping Our Community Well

If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home until they are well enough to return to school. Learning can be caught up, and school will be here when they are ready. Staying at home when unwell is one of the simplest ways we can protect the health and wellbeing of our whole community. Thank you for your support and understanding.

PTA and Parent Representatives

Thank you to our PTA parent representatives:

  • Mr Browning’s Class: Mrs Aylsworth
  • Miss Staines’s Class: Mrs Garcia
  • Ms Temple’s Class: Mrs Hazel
  • Ms Murray’s Class: Ms Beckett

We will meet next week to begin getting ready for Halloween.

Halloween

Our Halloween celebrations will take place on Friday 23 October, beginning at 1.30 pm. This year, students will enjoy a trick-or-treat format, moving around the school to visit a variety of trick-or-treat stations.

Students may come to school in costume or change at lunchtime. There will be a prize for the most creative costume.

We would be very grateful for donations of candy, which can be sent to the Admin Office. Parents who would like to run a trick-or-treat station are warmly invited to contact the PTA. The PTA may also be in touch to find parents who would like to run a station or perhaps even create a scary room.

Christmas Gift Giving

Each year, the UHIS community comes together to support the Ulsan Childcare Center through our Christmas Gift Giving tradition. It is a simple, meaningful way to share some festive cheer and support children in our local community.

Members of our community can use the link below to choose a requested gift and reserve it, helping us make sure that each child receives something special.

After choosing a gift, simply enter your name and email address to confirm the reservation. You will receive the details by email.

Bottle Cap Collection

Our bottle-cap collection is now at 65%, and students love checking the bin each morning to see how much it has grown. Along the way, we are learning a great deal about percentages and estimating.

The ice cream is getting closer, but we need to stay focused! We are also beginning to plan the mosaic that will be created from the bottle caps. Thank you for keeping the collection going.
