Mr Dunn’s Class – Art Update T3 W7

This week, Year 7–9 students continued developing their understanding of negative and positive space in art while expanding their ideas through a wider range of subjects and compositions. Building on last week’s learning, students explored how these contrasting spaces can be used creatively to strengthen visual balance, shape, and storytelling within an artwork.

Students experimented with different themes, including nature-inspired imagery and more personal creative ideas, thoughtfully applying positive and negative space techniques in increasingly confident and imaginative ways. It was wonderful to see students taking creative risks, refining their compositions, and expressing their individual artistic styles with growing confidence and focus throughout the lesson.
