This week, Year 5–6 students explored sculpture and paper construction by creating their own 3D paper vases. Students began by designing unique vase shapes and thinking carefully about how flat paper could be transformed into a three-dimensional form through folding, rolling, layering, and joining techniques.
After building their vase structures, students extended their creativity by drawing and designing paper flowers on thick paper. They explored a variety of flower shapes, sizes, and decorative patterns before carefully cutting them out and attaching them to branches to display inside their vases.
It was wonderful to see students experimenting confidently with form, structure, and decoration while developing their creative thinking and fine motor skills. Each artwork reflected the students’ individuality, imagination, and growing understanding of 3D art and design.
