Our Year 7–9 students have started a new Art unit connected to their IPC topic, Celebration.
As part of this project, students were asked to choose a celebration from their own country or culture that they know well and explore its history, traditions, meaning, and unique features. They were also encouraged to discover interesting facts that people from other countries may not know.
This week, students were introduced to the ten key topics for their 10-slide PowerPoint presentation and spent time researching each area using computers. They are now using a template to organise their research and create their presentations.
Next lesson, students will complete their presentations and share what they have discovered with the class. They will then move from research into an art activity connected to their chosen celebrations, giving them an opportunity to explore and express their ideas visually.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the students discover and how they transform their research into creative artwork!
