Over the next few weeks, our Year 3–4 students will be exploring the theme of Autumn through art.
We started our first lesson by exploring the colours we associate with autumn. The students then looked at photographs of real squirrels and carefully observed their shapes, features, and forms before creating their own squirrel drawings.
Using a variety of reference images, the students began by sketching their squirrels, then added colour and started to create their own autumn-inspired backgrounds. They were encouraged to make their own creative choices and express their ideas through colour, composition, and details.
It was wonderful to see such a variety of artworks, each reflecting the students’ individual creativity and artistic style. I can’t wait to see how each student develops their background and brings their artwork to life in our next lesson!
