Our Year 5–6 students have successfully completed their Chuseok Hanbok Art project. They were very proud of their finished work, and the project was a great opportunity for students to work together, share ideas, and develop their teamwork skills while exploring Korean traditional culture.
This week, we returned to our IPC unit, Being Human, and began a new Art project focusing on movement and the human body. Students explored gesture drawing and looked at the figurative sculptures of artist George Segal, thinking about how the position and shape of the body can communicate movement and action.
Students then began creating their own sculptures using tin foil. By bending, twisting, and shaping the foil, they experimented with how to capture a sense of motion in a three-dimensional figure. Each student chose a specific activity or movement and worked to show it through the pose of their sculpture.
As the project develops, students will also explore how shadows and patterns can enhance the sense of movement and bring their sculptures to life.
