Celebrating Culture and Community

It was wonderful to see so many parents engaging with the school during our recent Chuseok celebrations. When families share in school life, they strengthen the sense of community that makes UHIS special. We look forward to building on this connection through the PTA and the School Consultative Group, and warmly encourage parents to take an active part.

Celebrating Chuseok at UHIS

Chuseok is a special time for coming together, giving thanks and celebrating Korean traditions. At UHIS, our celebration brought students, families and staff together for an afternoon of performances, cultural experiences and community.

Chuseok is one of Korea's most important holidays, and our celebration gave students a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Korean culture and traditions together. Students enjoyed performances, cultural activities and the chance to share in the spirit of this special time of year with friends from across our international community.

At UHIS, celebrating Korean holidays is an important part of school life. It helps our students develop curiosity, respect and a deeper connection to the country we call home, while also giving us meaningful opportunities to come together as a community.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for making the day so warm and memorable, and thank you to HD Hyundai News for featuring our celebration.

Happening in Week 5

Thursday 24th–Friday 25th September — Chuseok Holiday (school closed)

Chuseok Holiday

Please note that UHIS will be closed for the Chuseok holiday on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September. We wish all UHIS families a happy Chuseok and a restful holiday.

A Day Out in the Park

We are looking forward to a whole-school day out at Ulsan Grand Park on Thursday 8th October (Week 7). Parents and members of our school community will be invited to join us for a picnic.

After lunch, each class will take part in an activity in the park. Further details, including arrangements for the day, will follow closer to the time.

PTA and Parent Representatives

We have not yet received any volunteers to serve as Class PTA Parent Representatives. A healthy school needs a functioning PTA: it helps parents connect, strengthens school spirit and makes community events possible.

Without a functioning PTA, planned events such as the Halloween party will not be able to go ahead. We warmly encourage anyone who is able to volunteer to contact the Admin Office.

Please consider volunteering to help build a strong, connected UHIS community.

School Consultative Group Parent Representatives

We are still looking for parents who would like to serve as representatives on the School Consultative Group this year. So far, we have not had any volunteers.

This group plays a vital role in school governance and improvement. It is an important communication channel between the school and the parent community, giving parents a formal opportunity to share views, ask questions and offer ideas, while helping the school communicate clearly and understand the experiences and priorities of families.

Bottle Cap Collection

The whole school has become highly motivated to fill our bottle-cap bin for the art project! Thank you to everyone who has brought in caps and helped build such fantastic school spirit.

We are now around 40% of the way there, which is a brilliant start. Please keep the caps coming: the ice cream for everyone at 100% is getting a little closer!
