CIS Preliminary Engagement
From Monday to Wednesday next week, UHIS will welcome Mr Shane Kells from the Council of International Schools as part of our ongoing CIS preliminary engagement process.
The Council of International Schools is a globally recognised organisation that supports and accredits international schools around the world. CIS accreditation recognises schools that meet high standards in international education, student wellbeing, safeguarding, governance, and continuous school improvement. UHIS has been proudly CIS accredited since 2011 and remains committed to ongoing reflection and development to provide the best possible learning experience for our students.
During the visit, Mr Kells will meet with students, staff, and school leadership, visit classrooms, and learn more about the learning experiences and community culture at UHIS. The visit is an important opportunity for reflection, discussion, and continued school improvement as we work towards the highest standards in international education.
The outcome of the visit will be a jointly created accreditation plan outlining how UHIS will prepare for a full CIS team visit next May. The plan will also include a number of development initiatives aimed at further strengthening and improving the school for our students and wider community.
All parents are invited to attend a meeting with Mr Kells on Wednesday at 11:30am. Parent perspectives and feedback are an important part of the CIS accreditation process, and we encourage as many parents as possible to take this opportunity to be involved.
If you plan to attend, please let the school office know in advance so that we can arrange seating.
Sports Day
UHIS Sports Day is scheduled to take place on Thursday 21st May and promises to be a fun and active day for all students. Throughout the day, students will take part in a range of team games, athletic activities, and friendly competitions while demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit.
We will be arriving at the Ulsan College Pitch at around 10am and events will end at around 2.30pm.
Students should come to school wearing their team colours and suitable sports clothing, including trainers, a hat, and sunscreen. Please also ensure students bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Parents are warmly invited to attend and support the students throughout the event.
Please note that the weather forecast for next week currently looks potentially rainy. We will make a decision regarding any postponement of Sports Day no later than Wednesday morning and will inform parents accordingly.
If Sports Day needs to be postponed, the rearranged date will be Wednesday 3rd June.
Yearbook Cover Competition
The Yearbook Cover Competition is now open.
Students who would like to enter can collect an entry sheet from the Admin Office. Each student should submit one original design before Friday of Week 9.
Designs should include either “UHIS” or “Ulsan Hyundai International School” as well as “2025/26”.
We encourage all students to take part and showcase their creativity.
Drone Camp at UHIS
On Saturday, UHIS hosted a Drone Camp led by students from CRESTAR and UNIST. The theme of the camp was From Pilot to AI Pilot, and UHIS students took part in a range of hands on activities that introduced them to the world of drone technology, coding, and artificial intelligence.
Throughout the day, students explored how drones are used in the real world and learned directly from university students who are already studying and developing new technologies. It was inspiring to see our students so engaged, curious, and excited about future possibilities in STEM.
We would like to thank the students and staff from UNIST and CRESTAR for sharing their expertise and creating such a valuable learning experience for our students.
Student who took part in the Drone Camp are invited to complete this survey about their experiences.

Our ABC Countdown will begins on Thursday, with students taking part in a range of alphabet-themed fun activities each day as we count down towards the end of the school year.
