This week, students in Years 7–9 learned about stained glass, including how coloured glass is made, cut, and assembled using thin metal lines.
For the activity, instead of using glass, students created stained glass–inspired artwork using black paper and tissue paper. The cut-out sections were filled with various colours of tissue paper to mimic the effect of light passing through stained glass.
Students focused on creating patterns and compositions, choosing one of two themes: sunrise or mountain.
Next week, based on this experience, students will choose their own theme and continue developing their stained glass–inspired project.
