Mrs Sim’s Class – Art Update – T2-W11

This week, Year 1–2 students continued exploring portrait art inspired by Picasso, focusing on creative and experimental approaches to faces and the human body.

Switch-a-Face Box
Students experimented with drawing different parts of the body—face, upper body, and lower body—on separate sides of a box. By rotating the box, they could create new and unexpected combinations, reflecting Picasso’s idea of breaking and rearranging forms in imaginative ways.

3D Contour Faces
Students also developed their contour drawings into simple standing structures. They carefully cut out their line drawings and attached them to paper tubes, beginning to explore height, layering, and sculptural form.

This term’s art lessons conclude here. Wishing everyone a happy and restful Easter break!
