Ms Staines’s Class – Art Update – T3-W7

This week, Year 3–4 students continued learning about the life and artworks of Paul Gauguin. Students explored Gauguin’s unique use of bold and vibrant colours and created their own artwork using crayons on sandpaper to better understand his expressive colour techniques. It was wonderful to see students confidently experimenting with a wide range of bright colours while creating highly individual and creative pieces.

Students also connected their learning with IPC by exploring the rainforest climate, including different rainforest regions and the animals that live there. After researching and observing various animals, students created silhouette drawings using black paper, focusing on capturing the shapes and distinctive features of each animal through simple but effective forms.

Through these activities, students developed their understanding of colour, observation, and creative expression while making meaningful connections between art and IPC learning.
