This week, our Year 5–6 students continued their portrait project by exploring a wider range of artistic styles. I prepared a selection of portraits in different styles, and together we observed and discussed how each artist approaches form, colour, and expression.
Students shared which styles they were drawn to and explained their reasons, encouraging thoughtful reflection on their own preferences. Inspired by these references, they then created their own portrait drawings, incorporating elements they found interesting or meaningful.
It was a lively and engaging lesson, filled with discussion and experimentation. The students produced fantastic work and took great pride in their creations, which was lovely to see.
