This week, Year 3–4 students continued their exploration of rainforest animals through a new project inspired by the artwork of Eric Carle. Students learned about Carle’s distinctive collage technique and began by painting sheets of paper with a variety of colours and textures.
Once the painted papers had dried, students carefully cut and arranged different shapes to create their chosen rainforest animals. By layering and combining painted pieces, they explored how colour, texture, and shape can be used to bring animals to life in a creative and expressive way.
Through this project, students developed their understanding of collage, composition, and artistic expression while continuing to build connections with their IPC learning about rainforest habitats and wildlife.
