Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all parents who attended parent–teacher conferences this week. These meetings are an important opportunity to share information, celebrate progress and work together to support each child’s learning and well-being.
We value open communication and strong home–school partnerships at UHIS. If you were unable to attend a conference, or if you would like to meet with your child’s teacher at another time, please do not hesitate to contact the Admin Office or your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting. We are always happy to support our families.
School Consultative Group Meeting
The School Consultative Group met on Thursday, and the meeting was both positive and productive. School leadership and parent representatives shared ideas, discussed key aspects of school life and listened carefully to parent perspectives.
We would like to thank our parent representatives for the important role they fulfil, supporting communication and partnership between families and the school. Their time, commitment and thoughtful contributions are greatly valued. Minutes and a summary of the meeting will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
Lunar New Year Celebrations
UHIS will celebrate Lunar New Year on Wednesday 11 February (next week) at 1.45pm, and parents are warmly invited to attend.
Lunar New Year, known as Seollal in Korea, is one of the most important traditional celebrations of the year. It is a time for families to come together, show respect to elders, and welcome the new year with hopes for good fortune and health. This year, we will be welcoming the Year of the Horse, which is traditionally associated with energy, effort and positivity.
Our celebration will include sebae bows, a dakkji competition, the announcement of the kite-decoration competition results, and traditional Korean refreshments. We look forward to sharing this meaningful cultural experience with our students and families and celebrating together as a community.
Hanboks and Traditional Dress
Students are invited to wear a hanbok or traditional dress from their home country on Wednesday as part of our Lunar New Year celebrations. Participation is entirely optional, and families are not expected to purchase anything specially for the day.
Some students may choose to bring a hanbok to school and change at lunchtime. The school will take a great photograph of students who come to school in traditional dress to celebrate the diversity of our community.
Kite Decorating Contest

Dakkji Competition
A dakkji championship will be held as part of our Lunar New Year celebrations. Students have been invited to volunteer to take part, and we are looking forward to a fun and spirited event that also provides opportunities to learn about good sportsmanship, including winning and losing graciously.
Students may make their own dakkji at home to use in the championship, or they may choose to use dakkji that have been made at school.

Open Day
UHIS will be holding an open day for prospective families on Tuesday 24th February.
If you know anyone who would be interested in attending, please put them in contact with the Admin Office
