Mrs Sim’s Weekly Update -Term 2 Week 10

Hello everyone,

Happy Rainy Friday to you all!

We have had another busy and positive week in Year 1/2. The children have been working hard and it has been lovely to see their enthusiasm across all of our lessons.

English
In English this week we did some drama to help inspire our writing. The children got into character and acted out being a toy soldier hiding under the tables. When they looked underneath, they discovered little post-its with information about what might be under the floorboards. The children were very surprised! Some were excited by the spiders, while others were quite frightened by the mice. It created great excitement and imagination in the classroom and gave them wonderful ideas for their writing. They did a fantastic job describing how they might feel in that situation.

The children also began preparing for a poem we will start next week called “When I grow up I…”. We watched some clips from the Matilda Musical for inspiration, which was great fun. There were some very funny ideas shared, including eating chocolate every day, eating lots of candy, and staying up late playing games all night – haha!

IPC (International Primary Curriculum)
In IPC we continued our research into different types of transport. The children looked at maps and journeys back to our home countries, which was really interesting. We made little cards showing how we travel home, and some of us discovered we have very long journeys to take!

We also continued improving our laptop skills by working on small presentations about transport. The children practised inserting pictures and changing their size, making them bigger and smaller. I was very impressed by how much their confidence with technology has improved.

I would also like to say a big thank you to the children for wishing me an early birthday. They made me such beautiful cards and little presents, which really touched me. I had a lovely day thanks to them and definitely felt very loved. ❤️ Thank you!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! 😊

Take care,

Mrs Sim
