Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 3! I hope you all had a great holiday! We have had a fun first week back and it was so nice to see the children again 🙂 I look forward to all the fun and joy they will bring. Let’s take a look at our learning from this week.
This week in Maths, we focused on:
Year 1 Objectives:
Counting in 2s
Counting in 10s
Counting in 5s
Recognising equal groups
Year 2 Objectives:
Introduction to parts and whole
Identifying equal and unequal parts
Recognising a half
Finding a half
In Literacy, we began our new class book, ‘The Last Wolf’. We explored the traditional tale and linked our learning to endangered animals. The children created thoughtful zoo posters to raise awareness. We also made lists of what Little Red would need to hunt the wolf, focusing on using commands and the grammar point “so that” (e.g., “Remember your lunch and snacks so that you don’t get hungry.”).
In IPC, we started our new unit, ‘Seeing the Light’. The children had great fun exploring shadows outdoors, practising shading techniques in art, and taking artistic photographs inspired by André Kertész. Their work turned out beautifully, and they really enjoyed using the cameras. We will be creating an art gallery display of their work on our classroom board.
Homework has been sent home today along with library books. Please ensure all items are returned each Friday. Thanks so much.
Have a wonderful weekend! 😊
Take care,
Mrs Sim
